Irrigation FAQs
How much does an irrigation system cost?
It depends on the size of your yard, how many zones it needs, the mix of lawn and garden areas and the type of controller and sensors you choose. We give you a clear quote after a free on-site consultation.
Will installing irrigation tear up my lawn?
Some digging is needed to run the lines, but the work is planned to keep disruption to a minimum, and the lawn recovers. Installing irrigation at the same time as new sod or landscaping is the easiest option of all.
Can irrigation be added to an existing yard?
Yes. We design systems for established yards as well as new landscapes, routing lines around trees, patios and garden beds.
Does irrigation waste water?
A properly designed system usually uses water more efficiently than hand watering or a hose-end sprinkler. Zoning, scheduled early-morning watering and smart sensors help make sure water only goes where and when it is needed.
Can my garden beds be watered differently from my lawn?
Yes. That is exactly what zones are for. Lawns, beds, shady areas and new plantings can each run on their own schedule.
Should I install irrigation with new sod or plantings?
It is one of the best times to do it. New sod, seed and plantings need consistent water to get established, and an irrigation system makes that easy.
Can irrigation help with a lawn that keeps turning brown?
Often, yes. Uneven or inconsistent watering is a common cause of brown patches in summer. During the consultation we will look at your lawn and let you know whether irrigation is the right fix.
What areas do you serve for irrigation?
We install irrigation systems in Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Skokie, Glenview, Northfield, Northbrook and the surrounding North Shore suburbs.
